The "Road to Fusion" Symposium PDF Print E-mail

Schedule Available Now

Day by day enterprises face unique challenges in IT development. For more than a decade, Oracle technology has helped enterprises address these ongoing challenges, using the Oracle database and classic development tools such as Designer, Forms, and Reports. Yet, new business opportunities and new requirements keep arriving, along with changing regulations, an evolved end user awareness in technological developments, these all present enterprises with the need for a new approach to their application development. Common themes include modern task-oriented user interfaces, tailored to the needs of specific roles and user groups; integration between various standard and custom applications along with integration with external business partners; interoperability between different technology stacks; browser based and mobile delivery of applications; and shorter release cycles and greater flexibility.

Oracle Fusion Middleware (FMW) is a key contender in successfully addressing these challenges. The "Road to Fusion" Symposium on the opening day of the ODTUG Kscope11 conference is the perfect introduction to Fusion Middleware for developers and architects who have to plot the road ahead for their organizations and themselves, and who need to discover why Oracle's FMW stack is such a potent mix of solutions in addressing the IT needs of current and future enterprises.

This conference prelude is a full-day Sunday symposium that illustrates-through real world practical examples-why, when, and how to apply which pieces of Fusion Middleware and associated technologies. The symposium also looks at the experience of Fusion Applications Development, the biggest example of full use FMW.  The symposium's aim is to shortcut developers on the Road to Fusion.

Attendees will learn from real world examples from organizations that faced specific business and technology challenges, and through a decision-making process, embarked on a Fusion-oriented solution, with lessons learned and business value achieved. They will also receive an introduction to the key components of Fusion Middleware including ADF, SOA Suite and BPM, WebLogic Server, and WebCenter.

The day's outline:

  • The largest application ever built with Fusion Middleware: Oracle Fusion Applications: an outline of the FMW-based architecture and essential functional themes of Fusion Applications, as a reference as well as for inspiration
  • Introduction to FMW through the eyes of Fusion Applications, and what product did what?
  • Introduction of business cases: the organizations, their technological background, and the business challenges and what was the FMW-based solution chosen for each of the business cases, and how were the results: lessons learned, business value achieved, and next steps planned
  • Overview of Fusion Middleware: presentations by Oracle Product Management of the heart and soul of Fusion Middleware
  • The Fusion Solutions
  • Design Patterns for use with FMW

At the end of the symposium, attendees should have a good feel for how they might want to get going with Oracle Fusion Middleware - in their organization as well as they themselves - starting on Monday with the conference proper. Which business requirements and current challenges may be the first to address and what is a good way to address them using Fusion Middleware. Attendees will also learn from the symposium how to convince their colleagues, managers, and end users of the relevance of Fusion Middleware for their specific needs. The symposium also serves as a guide to the rest of the FMW track at the conference.

With the delivery of Fusion Applications in 2010, the time has never been more right for Oracle developers to learn about Fusion Middleware and why this is the most important development platform for enterprise scale development. The FMW track at the ODTUG Kscope11 conference is the perfect opportunity to get a thorough introduction into Fusion Middleware in many of its key aspects. The Sunday Symposium is the ideal way to get started into the conference and lay the foundation for the best week of the year.
